Brief description of the research topic:

The Laboratory of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy conducts research on the interaction between radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation and chiral molecules. This includes the theoretical description of novel nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) phenomena that enable the direct differentiation of enantiomers. Such studies are supported by advanced quantum mechanical calculations, allowing one to obtain crucial nuclear parameters for determining the absolute configuration of chiral molecules. These effects are used to enable direct observation of molecular chirality via NMR spectroscopy—overcoming the limitations of current methods, which typically provide only indirect insights. On the experimental side, we design and develop systems to detect NMR effects arising from molecular chirality. A second research focus is the precise determination of nuclear parameters, which are applied in studies of intermolecular interactions, the structure of biologically active molecules, and energetic materials.
