Brief description of the research topic:

Our current research activities are in the areas of high performance separation techniques (HPLC) with UV/Vis, fluorimetric and mass spectrometric detection and capillary electrophoresis with UV/Vis and fluorimetric detection. Our research focuses on trace analysis and the development of new materials for sample cleaning and preconcentration of various analytes. New HPLC and CE separation methods are being developed for environmental applications (fluorinated surfactants, pesticides, biogenic amines), trace determination of neurotransmitters and their metabolites in physiological fluids, determination of textile dyes in archaeometry, food analysis (polyphenolic compounds and their metabolites) and speciation of trace elements. Food analysis has been extended to include antioxidant properties and the ability of model substances and natural samples. In the area of new materials for sample processing, electropolymerised and chemically polymerised conductive polymers and carbon nanomaterials are being investigated for preconcentration of trace analytes from environmental samples. A new topic of our research group is the identification of biosurfactants produced by bacteria and the determination of the effect of probiotic bacteria on antioxidants in model systems.
