Traditional methods of restoring paintings can have a negative impact on both conservators and the canvases themselves. Specialists are exposed to toxic substances, and the quality of art restoration declines over time. Paintings often need to be restored again. Chemists from the University of Warsaw have found a solution to this twofold problem.
A team led by Prof. Marcin Karbarz has developed an innovative organogel: a safe, non-toxic material that allows conservators to effectively remove harmful wax-resin layers without damaging artworks. 🎨
This cutting-edge invention not only protects priceless masterpieces but also improves safety, reduces costs, and opens new possibilities for conservation and beyond.
👉 Discover how chemistry is restoring art to its original beauty and why this technology is gaining global attention.
