Prof. dr hab. Beata Krasnodębska-Ostręga

She has been associated with University of Warsaw since 1992. University of Warsaw is where she studied, received her doctoral degree (1998) and then post-doctoral degree (2013).

For many years she has been a member of the Faculty of Chemistry Council and she has taken part in creating new fields of studies and specialities coordinated by the Faculty of Chemistry independently (Advanced Instrumental Methods and Measurement Techniques (2015), Chemistry(2012)) or in cooperation with other units (Environmetal Managment (2010)). She has reviewed applications for faculty competitions (IDLab and DSM).

Between 2012 and 2016 she was a member of the Faculty of Chemistry Council Committee for Student Affairs and Teaching.

Her teaching experience includes classes of all kinds: course laboratories, specialisation laboratories, course tutorials, specialisation lectures and monogram lectures. She also lectures in English. Supervising students during their thesis preparation is an important element of her job. She has been and advisor (more than 10) and supervisor (more than 25) of Master’s theses and also a supervisor (more than 15) of Bachelor’s theses.

“It’s a great teaching and social experience”

Her research interests include environment – analysis and protection.

Her Master thesis focused on metal contamination monitoring of Kampinos Forest. Her doctoral thesis focused on application of new (at that time) measurement techniques and new analytical methods for assessing metal mobility in soil. She is a specialist in thallium speciation in natural samples and in environmental sample preparation for speciation analysis. She has been a reviewer of so called “green technology” processes submitted to GreenEvo foundation and in the framework of “Green Technology Accelerator” (Ministry of Environment).

She places great emphasis on popularisation of knowledge of biogeochemical cycling of elements in the environment.

“For me chemistry is an essential tool for modern analysis and protection of the environment.”

She spends her free time with her Family and reading about prehistory.

She serves as Vice-Dean for Student Affairs in 2020-2024 term.
